2016 is here and you might have thought that we’d all be a bit wiser than last year. However as you’ll read this list of 25 Most Common Passwords of 2015, you will mutter unmentionables, shake your head with disgust and arrive at the unyielding conclusion that, we are all utter and complete morons.
Every year, we get to see lists of the millions and millions of stolen passwords. This year our list of list of 25 Most Common Passwords is based on a more than 2 million leaked passwords. This year’s list is not a list of arbitrary alpha-numeric characters that you generally get to see. Rather, you’ll find out that it’s a lesson in “how not to pick a password”.
Of course, “password” and “12345″ continue to be the most common passwords.
But anyhow, without any further ado, here’s our list of 25 Most Common Passwords of 2015.

There are a number of really interesting trends, if one desires to go beyond the utter lack of common sense for a second. Sports related passwords still continue to be in style, with passwords like “football” and then the most famous one “baseball” both ranking extremely high, and so are those most common passwords which are inspired by a some super duper blockbuster film, like “starwars” making a unwelcome appearance on our list.
It’s always nice to see the that the “princess” is back which dropped out of the race of most common passwords last year however has made a reappearance, most probably attributable to Star Wars. In other places, few new entries—like “login,” welcome” and the most common passwords like “passw0rd”—are simply as hackable as they are dumb and dim-witted.
Our privacy is compromised every time we set a password without applying a ounce of brain, so next time you are setting a password to your e-mail account, facebook or twitter or even your PC for that matter, don’t forget to use your common sense and creativity!
