Ringing Bells officially unveiled Freedom 251 smartphone, fullfilling their commitment of launching the cheapest Smartphone in India. Bookings have started from Thursday at 6am for the Freedom 251, which is priced at just $4 i.e. Rs. 251, making it possibly the cheapest Smartphone in the entire world.
Freedom 251 comes with amazingly decent specifications and a one year guarantee. The incredible Smartphone has a 1.3 GHz quadcore processor, 4-inch 960×560 display and a 1450mAh battery. It comes with 8GB internal memory and 1GB RAM, with up to 32GB micro SD card support. That’s not all Freedom 251 also comes with a 0.3MP front camera, 3.2-megapixel rear camera, 3G support and Wi-Fi connectivity.
The phone runs Android 5.1, and it comes with a range of pre-installed apps including Facebook, WhatsApp, YouTube and many more. Some apps that are particularly designed for Indian market include Swachh Bharat, Women Safety and other apps meant for those in the farming, health and fishing sectors.
The Indian government is endorsing local manufacturing with their “Make in India” program, and Ringing Bells aims to move from merely assembling handsets in the country to executing all aspects of its development work in India only.
Founded in 2015, Ringing Bells claims to be the fastest growing Smartphone Company in India. Although the low price of Freedom 251 is without a doubt attractive, and the specifications are rather promising, its yet to be seen whether the SmartPhone would turn out to be a breakthrough —or just another failed experiment like Aakash tablet.
Ringing Bells says that their marvel phone has been made ‘with immense support’ from the Indian government. With such a reasonable price, the Noida based Smartphone maker aims to make Smartphone’s accessible to one and all. If you’d like to book Freedom 251, then keep checking the website, though it may take till June before all shipments are made.
